the project

"the melting series" is an evolution of the "live paintings" project, where iconographic paintings recognizable by the vast majority of people are borrowed, and gradually melt until they are unrecognizable. the idea came about accidentally (like almost all of my ideas) while visiting an important art center in madrid. a person in front of me was looking at a well-known painting by velazquez. at one point i heard this person comment with his companion that if the global temperature continued to rise, even the paintings were going to melt. i thought it was a good idea to be able to do a visualization of this digitally.
